With the recent announcement by MP Matt Jeneroux that he will no longer represent the voters of Edmonton Riverbend as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada, a special nomination election will be announced in the coming weeks to select the candidate who will represent you for the Conservative Party of Canada here in Edmonton Riverbend. I would like to be that person, but I will need your help to win that special nomination election.

Choose Hope for Riverbend *
Faith, Family, & Freedom - I support Riverbend families as the most important and foundational part of a healthy Canada - our governments should be small and decisions about your life should be made as closely to your home as possible.
I am a lifelong conservative, someone who defends small government where citizens own and are responsible for their own futures within a free market. I believe in a Canada where the government serves the people, not the other way around.
We have many people with law degrees as members of parliament and others who have only ever been politicians. I think our national parliament also needs representatives who have lived and worked in the real world first - and then give back their years of experience to the country that has blessed them so fully. I have given years of service to the people of Canada as a teacher and school leader in Riverbend and beyond. I want to give back to my community and this great nation that I love!
I’ve worked for many years at an executive level, but have also worked as a teacher, a carpenter before that, and as an award winning school leader. I have a decade of experience working at a senior level with the Alberta Teachers’ Association. From my early married life I know what it is to be raising a family on one income and to wonder about whether there would be money for groceries in the weeks ahead. My wife Susan and I worked so hard to put me through university at the University of Saskatchewan in the hope that we could build a better life for our family, own a home, and achieve the Canadian dream. I worked two jobs at the time while taking an overload of classes, but we did it together. I want our children and the coming generations to also be able to realize the potential of Canada too - to know, deep in their hearts, that if they work hard, they can achieve their dreams in this beautiful country. I want them to be able to dare to hope!
I speak English and French and have broad expertise in multiple fields of endeavour. I want to bring my skills & talent in the coming years to support YOU and to the service of Canada - I’m not a lifelong politician, quite the opposite.
If you support me to be the candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada and I am elected to represent you I commit to you absolutely to not be an “absentee Member of Parliament” but to be present every month in the riding to listen to YOU, to hear your concerns, and to share your dreams and to help bring the Edmonton Riverbend perspective to parliament.
I was born in Edmonton, my children live here in Riverbend, I will never-ever, abandon this wonderful riding.
I believe that Canadians want to turn HOPE into RESULTS in the next federal election. Our children and the generations that are following should reasonably be able to fulfill the dream of home ownership. Families should be able to afford groceries and utilities every month and be able to afford a vacation with one another once a year. We have a right to live in a society where fear of crime is not an ongoing cause of worry.
Our party leader has shared that - “we have more dirt per capita than any other country on earth and that owning a home in Canada ought to be dirt cheap” - I share that belief. I want to help build a country where my children and your children will be able to dare to dream, to build a life here in Riverbend, and to own a home and build a family within that home - without soul-crushing debt in the process.
We have a right to be filled with the hope that the promise of Canada, that has always brought people to this great land and province is attainable for all those willing to work hard and offer their gifts, skills and talents to build their community.
I categorically do not accept the premise that “this is as good as it gets” - but rather I believe that “the best is yet to come” and I will work towards harnessing the HOPE of the good people of Riverbend into making that dream a reality.
I want to work with you to ensure a strong, vibrant Alberta within a united Canada for our future and our children’s future.
Together we can build a better future for Canada…

About Jeff Johnson
I’m an Albertan, born-and-bred who grew up in Central Alberta in an oil-patch family with a wheat-farming background. Growing up, my dad was an oil-patch pioneer in Alberta. This gave me the opportunity to live in Stettler, Drumheller, a farm near Standard, Alberta, Calgary, and in Sherwood Park. I am deeply familiar with the importance of farming and of the oil industry to the prosperity of Alberta. I have, together with my wife Susan, raised 7 wonderful children in beautiful Riverbend in Edmonton. I am deeply familiar with the fields of education, technology, and health care in the province and have several adult children who work in all three fields of endeavor.
For more than three decades I have dedicated my life to public service. I am a globally-recognized leader in education who began my highly successful teaching career right here in Riverbend at St. Mary School. I have served as a principal in Edmonton in a variety of schools before continuing in roles of leadership as a school-district level leader and also at a province-wide level in education. I was elected to several terms on the Alberta Technology Leadership and Education Association as its president and also led the work of the Council for School Leadership in the province. My dedication and work in education leadership has been recognized through an Excellence in Teaching Award from the province of Alberta, a Distinguished Service Award from the province’s Council for School Leadership, and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal presented by the Minister of Education for my service in education in the province. I continue to provide leadership development programs to school leaders, aspiring school leaders and government leaders globally. I am an in-demand speaker on related topics.
I am no stranger to the world of policy development. I have played a role in education policy development in Alberta for the past 20 years and have had the pleasure of working with most of Alberta’s recent Ministers of Education and with Ministers of Education from multiple other provinces in Canada. I have made presentations in English and French in a broad range of countries, sharing policy advice on education leadership as a guest of Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Missned of Qatar, the Ministries of Education of Finland and Iceland, and the Minister of Education of New South Wales in Australia, for example. I have worked with senior individuals from the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) and a wide range of teacher unions and government organizations.
I have also demonstrated commitment to conservative politics for many years – including serving as Vice-President of Policy of the Edmonton Whitemud Conservative Association throughout Dave Hancock’s time as MLA in Riverbend and currently on the Edmonton Whitemud UCP Constituency Association as Vice-President of Policy since its inception - a multi- year commitment. I am also an active board member of the federal Edmonton Riverbend Conservative EDA and am currently its vice-president. Over the last two years, I have been one of two elected representatives for Alberta on the Conservative Party of Canada’s National Policy Committee and on its Oversight Committee. Jeff also serves on the United Conservative Party’s Provincial Policy & Governance Committee as its Policy Chair.
Throughout my life I have offered my time and expertise in a volunteer capacity to many worthwhile community causes. I am active in the Riverbend community in Edmonton as a volunteer and as a part of my local parish - St. Thomas More in Riverbend. I have served on the board of the Safe and Caring Schools Society, and have played a role on the Board of Apple Distinguished Educators for North and South America. I am currently a member of the Growth and Innovation Committee of the Covenant Health Board, and several other non-profit organizations.
I am a person of character and am highly-motivated to make a contribution to preserving and strengthening Canadian society for our future and for the future of generations of citizens in our local community, the province of Alberta, and Canada.
I help people develop leadership skills, curate and build education events worldwide, am an in-demand public speaker globally, and have a passion for policy development in education, in government, and beyond.
After beginning my education career at St. Mary School in the heart of Riverbend, I have served as a principal at multiple schools across Edmonton and have also served as a school district-level leader in Edmonton. I am a well known education leader at the provincial level and internationally. My leadership in education has been recognized through multiple awards.
I also have deep experience having served nationally on the Conservative Party of Canada’s National Policy Committee and Oversight Committee and provincially on the UCP Provincial Policy and Governance Committee while also serving on the executive (Vice-President) of the Conservative Party of Canada’s Edmonton Riverbend Electoral District Association and the United Conservative Party’s Edmonton Whitemud Constituency Association. I also volunteer for a variety of non-profit organizations such as the Covenant Health Board’s Growth & Innovation Committee. I am known as an education leader nationally and internationally. I frequently lead public speaking engagements and workshops worldwide focused on school leadership.
